Open Access, Archiving and Long-Term Preservation, Publication Fees, Licensing and Use of Copyrighted Objects Policy
The editorial board of the scientific journal supports the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) aimed at the free and unrestricted dissemination of scientific knowledge: everyone may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.
Free open access to all texts of scientific articles is available on the official website of the scientific journal “History and Law Journal”.
All articles published in the scientific journal “History and Law Journal” are also available in full open access on:
the website of the V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine,
the website of the Institutional Repository of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University,
the website of the Faculty of Law of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
“History and Law Journal” publishes information on its website in electronic form and operates under the Creative Commons Attribution International CC-BY 4.0 license. This allows users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, cite, or link to the full text of articles in this journal.
The website of “History and Law Journal” uses the HTTPS protocol (SSL certificate) for secure data transmission between the website and the user, which ensures encryption of information and confirms the authenticity of the website.
The editorial board accepts for free publication single-author articles submitted by applicants for the third level of higher education (doctoral level) studying under the state-funded form of education, provided that the articles meet the established requirements and the principles of academic integrity. All other articles are published in the scientific journal (website) subject to payment of a publication fee to cover the costs associated with peer review, editorial and publishing preparation of the scientific journal, and placement of its electronic version on the official website of the journal.
The editorial board draws the authors’ attention to the fact that the journal “History and Law Journal” does not pursue commercial purposes, and the payment of a publication fee does not influence the decision regarding the publication of a scientific article.
If a scientific article is accepted for publication in “History and Law Journal”, a copyright agreement is concluded with the author of the article. According to this agreement, the author retains the right to produce copies, including electronic ones, for personal use or for transfer for personal or professional use, for conducting scientific research, for educational purposes, or for informational purposes of the author’s employer (provided that such copies are not used for sale or systematic distribution); to use the published scientific article in whole or in part in reviews, dissertations, books, or lectures of the author (with a mandatory bibliographic reference to the work or part of the work published in the journal and a hyperlink to its electronic copy placed on the journal’s website); to place postprints of the article in institutional and other repositories of scientific publications or data. The author or other lawful owner retains proprietary rights to patents for inventions, utility models or industrial designs, rights to trademarks, and any processes, substances, and materials described in the scientific article.
According to the copyright agreement, the founder of the scientific journal is granted the copyright to publish the article in the scientific periodical “History and Law Journal” in the original language or translated into a language provided for publication; to distribute the scientific article as a component of the journal (in electronic and/or printed form) in the territory of Ukraine and other countries by subscription, sale, or free distribution of the journal; to reproduce the scientific article by any means and in any form; to translate the scientific article in cases where it is written in a language other than the language intended for publication; to distribute the scientific article as part of the journal “History and Law Journal” and/or in the databases of the founder or other persons at the discretion of the founder, or as an independent work worldwide; to place the scientific article or its part on the Internet; to transfer the copyright obtained under this agreement to third parties; to modify the form of presentation of the scientific article for use in interaction with computer programs and systems for the purpose of reproduction, publication, and distribution, implementation in search systems (databases); and to use the scientific article through distribution, communication to the public, processing, and systematization.
Open Data Policy
The journal supports the principles of Open Science and encourages authors to ensure open access to research data underlying the published results.
Authors are encouraged to deposit datasets that support the findings of their research (including primary data, tables, code, methodological materials, research instruments, etc.) in open institutional, national, or international repositories that comply with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).
