PECULIARITIES OF THE LEGAL STATUS OF REFUGEES IN GREAT BRITAIN

Abstract

The problem of refugees has a long history, both in the international and national law of many countries, but it has not yet been resolved. The international community is making a lot of efforts to protect this vulnerable population group by developing and adopting international universal agreements and improving national legislation. The granting of special rights and obligations to refugees is due to the presence of special features of their position in the state. Because the legal status of such a category as refugees differs from other categories of the population in each state. Each state, taking into account its interests and international standards, establishes a general, unique legal status for foreign citizens and stateless persons, refugees have special rights and obligations, which are determined by the reasons for their stay on the territory of the state that granted them asylum, and the necessity their quick adaptation to the society of the host country. The existence of such rights and obligations is necessary for maintaining the relevant status, confirming information and facilitating the provision of special rights, guarantees, and assistance to these persons. When solving the issue of refugees in our country, it is worth paying attention to the policy of Great Britain regarding the provision of an alley. Granting asylum in Great Britain guarantees a person the right to stay in the country as a refugee, under humanitarian protection or for other reasons, and an applicant who has received refugee status will also receive the right to permanent residence at the same time. With refugee status, asylum seekers in the UK are entitled to legal protection, housing, healthcare and other support until their claim is processed, they can start looking for work and apply for benefits. The peculiarity of the legal status of a refugee in Great Britain is the proper support of refugees and those in need of asylum, as well as the system, which is ensured by the cooperation of the government, state institutions, communities, and charitable organizations.
